Beau Roberson’s songs are heartfelt and perfectly delivered with his powerhouse, emotive vocals. Roberson was raised in a home with music. His mother, a former piano teacher, was always singing. He grew up on her soundtrack of Aretha Franklin, Tracy Chapman, Willie Nelson and more. His first CD purchases were two very different “Greatest Hits” collections: Bob Dylan and War. You can hear all of those diverse influences in his songwriting decades later. Roberson began writing shortly after he picked up the guitar at age 14. His songs start with an idea or a line he likes, then he elaborates on the story. While he admits some songs are autobiographical, he won’t always tell you which ones. Whether he’s recounting his own experience or that of a friend, real or imaginary, hardly matters.
